Real Talk: Mozambique
As y’all probably know, I’m going to spend about half of my summer in Mozambique, Africa at Project Liberty International Orphan Home! I am so so incredibly excited to spend so much time at my favorite place in the world, getting to serve alongside an incredible woman with faith like I’ve never seen before. I was blessed so much when I found out that I could use scholarship money from OU to help support me on my trip–the Lord continues to surprise me in ways that make me want to lay flat on my face and just worship. He is so good and His love is indescribable. It brings to mind a quote from a Jesus Calling devotion I read a few weeks ago: “I, the Creator of the universe, am the most creative Being imaginable. I will not leave you circling in deeply rutted paths. Instead, I will lead you along fresh trails of adventure, revealing to you things you did not know.” He is creative, and loves to bless His children! Praise Him for that!
I’m leaving in just a few short months. I still have about $2500 to raise, but God has already promised that He will provide for all the needs of His children. It’s been a struggle to let that worry and fear go, but I am confident that He will do what He said He will do! So, I’m asking for your help. First, I’m asking for your prayer. I have been so convicted and challenged in the area of prayer recently. I still struggle to grasp the fact that the Lord, the Creator, the King cares about MY needs, but He does and it’s beautiful. Jesus you are so good! Specifically, I’d be so grateful if you’d pray for three things: for Jennifer, the kids, and for me. Pray that Jennifer would be refreshed while we are there, and that she would have a time of sweet rest in the presence of our Savior. Pray for the kids, those precious little ones, that they would fall deeply in love with Jesus and that their hearts would be stirred to change their community. Finally, pray for me, that all fears and doubts would be removed and replaced by an overflow of the Holy Spirit. If you’d like to help financially, you can email me (firstname.lastname@example.org), talk to me in person, talk to my mom, write a check to Woodcrest Church with the memo Emilee Mozambique, visit my GoFundMe page (http://www.gofundme.com/dzdyhg), text me if you have my number, contact me on Facebook–really any method will work. But honestly, the whole financial side of it falls so far second to the spiritual side, so your prayers mean so much more to me than money ever could. Prayer is time, and care, and love, and words cannot express how grateful I am to those who pray for me. I am overwhelmed with joy and hope for this opportunity, and I am so grateful to everyone who will join me on this journey!
